Meet Team MC
Meet Thea
Color has always been instinctive for Thea. Long before jewelry entered the picture, she was drawn to the unexpected combinations, details, and objects that felt a little more expressive. Growing up Greek, some of her earliest influences came from her Yiayia - her gold jewelry, her love of bold adornment, and the grand expressions of color woven throughout Greek life and culture.
She attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, studying Advertising, Marketing and Communications within FIT’s business school, with every intention of pursuing a career in public relations. Fine jewelry - and especially the diamond trade - was never part of the plan. In fact, it hardly felt like an industry she could simply choose to enter.
That changed when a friend introduced her to a wholesale company specializing in loose natural fancy color diamonds and untreated gemstones. What began as an unexpected opportunity quickly became a calling. Surrounded by extraordinary natural color and learning an industry known for being difficult to enter without family ties or established connections, Thea found the world she wanted to build her career in.
It was on New York’s 47th Street that she later met Simon. His more than 20 years of expertise in fine color, paired with Thea’s creative eye and instinct for design, became the foundation for Maison Color - a fine jewelry house built around the stones that brought them together in the first place.
Meet Simon
Growing up in London, Simon was surrounded by a city where tradition and individuality exist side by side. Its mix of old-world character, culture, and distinctly personal style helped shape an appreciation for pieces with history, character, and presence - an influence that would later feel at home in the world of fine jewelry.
At just 18, Simon left London for New York, where he began his career in the jewelry industry in 2001. He was soon introduced to the world of natural fancy color diamonds and fine gemstones, sourcing stones and developing the trained eye that can only come from years of handling exceptional material firsthand.
Over more than two decades, Simon built an instinctive understanding of color, quality, and the subtle characteristics that make one stone entirely different from the next. His experience has taken him deep into the sourcing side of the industry, giving him a perspective on jewelry that begins with the stone itself.
After meeting Thea in the heart of the diamond district, Simon’s expertise in fine color found a natural counterpart in her creative approach to design. Together, their different backgrounds and shared fascination with color became the foundation for Maison Color - where Simon’s knowledge of exceptional stones meets Thea’s eye for what they can become.
